July 21, 2000:
- Pretty quiet around here! But the July 25 issue of Country Weekly has at least two pictures of Kevin inside! It's the "photo-packed Fan Fair 2000" issue.
- The latest issue of Sharp Notes should've hit your mailbox about a week ago. Yet another great job by Marlene and Elaine (and lots of pics from TK!).
- We're still waiting on news of a new Kevin CD. Believe it: You're sure to read all about it here on KevinFriends!
May 5, 2000:
- Kevin Sharp's 2nd Annual Friends Club party will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. in Nashville, during Fan Fair week. LOTS of surprises and fun are planned -- after all, this is Kevin Sharp. ;-)
Among the festivities planned is a Q&A session with Kevin, so if you've got a question you want to ask him, you can send it to the Friends Club's e-mail or snail-mail address below.
Kevin plans to answer as many questions as he can during the Q&A session. A video of the party will also be available, so you can show all your friends and family what fun they missed out on afterwards!
Plus, don't forget to stop by and visit Kevin, Marlene, Elaine and maybe a few friends at Kevin's Fan Fair booth.
Contact the Friends Club at ksfanclb@innercite.com or KSFC, PO Box 888, Camino CA 95709 for tickets, more details and fan club information.
- For those not on the KevinFriends announcement mailing list: Kevin's single, which was planned for release last April 18, has been "postponed indefinitely." There are too many rumors floating around for me to safely confirm anything, so keep an eye out here for more solid news as it arrives. Speaking of rumors, apparently the "official website" is down for "reconstruction," but will return. Hmm...
April 3, 2000:
- Kevin is pictured with Barry Manilow and friends in the April 18 issue of Country Weekly.
- Speaking of which, don't forget to watch Kevin on Manilow Country on TNN, April 11th!
- The latest issue of Sharp Notes is hitting everyone's mailboxes. You can still get yours! (See March 17th's News, below.)
- Now for some bad news... Brian Arsenault and Lee J. Turner have left the band. Lee has been working with Wade Hayes and the Kinleys, and Brian has been playing (so to speak) with Pam Tillis. They JUST MIGHT return to Kevin's band someday, so let's keep our fingers crossed. Everyone will sure miss 'em! :-(
- Big Dog, now fondly known as Medium Dog, is well on his way to becoming Slim Dog! Congrats to Robert for continuing on his successful, lean mean health quest!
- Robert filled in for Dave Thurman as Kevin's road manager recently, while Dave was off getting hitched to Malia. Congrats to the newlyweds, married March 25, 2000! And let's hope the temporary busdriver managed to pass Robert's scrutiny, hehe...
March 17, 2000:
- Happy St. Patty's Day, Lads n Lassies! Catch the leprechaun, and he'll reveal his pot o' gold. Or in this case, join the Kevin Sharp Friends Club and get all of the BIG NEWS I'm sworn not to tell!

It costs just a little green for a lot of exciting news, and this time, you'll only get it from the Friends Club! I'll spill it all here on KevinFriends a week or two after Sharp Notes is mailed out (soon, I hope).
- Meanwhile, the official Kevin site says to watch out for our laddy in an April issue of Country Weekly!
March 9, 2000:
- Hang onto your hats -- and your bootstraps, hehe. BIG rumors abound regarding BIG Kevin news. I promise you'll read it all here, as soon as the rumors are substantiated! Augh.
February 16, 2000:
- Manilow Country: Sounds like yesterday's show at the Performing Arts Center in Nashville was a great success. An article about Barry Manilow and friends can be found here on country.com. Be sure to read all the way down to the goosebumps-worthy quotes from Kevin. And don't forget to tune in to watch, April 11 on TNN (check local listings, and come back to KevinFriends for a reminder).
If you want to hear Barry's original version of Please Don't Be Scared, it's available on his album called Manilow (the same album Kevin mentioned in the article noted above).
- Almost forgot! Last Tuesday's chat transcript has been posted on the WKRN site.
February 7, 2000:
- KEVIN ALERT! Tomorrow night -- Tuesday, February 8th from 7 to 8 p.m., Central, join Kevin Sharp for a LIVE CHAT on WKRN/Nashville News 2's Music City Celebrity Chat! THANKS to TK for spotting this event!
You can register in advance to win copies of Love Is, to be given away during the chat. But even more exciting is the chance to get some news from Kevin himself about a new CD! Cross your fingers!
Also, a bit of advice: To avoid crashing in the middle of the chat, I highly recommend rebooting your computer, logging-on to the 'net, and opening the above-mentioned URL in a "fresh" browser. ;-)
- Wow, lots of news this time around... This has not been officially confirmed, but according to Tnn/Country.com's "Country Cruisin'" column, Kevin will make an appearance on stage AND television with none other than Barry Manilow!
Manilow Country: Country stars Trisha Yearwood, Jo Dee Messina, Lila McCann, Lorrie Morgan, Kevin Sharp, Gillian Welch, Deana Carter and possibly other artists will pay tribute to Barry Manilow during the TNN special, Manilow Country. The concert will be taped February 15 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville and will be aired on TNN April 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Kevin has always been a big fan of Barry Manilow. Let's hope Kevin performs Barry's tune, Please Don't Be Scared. Set your VCRs! To keep an eye out for more news on this event, check out The BarryNet.
- Wait, there's more! There's still another as-yet-unconfirmed report of yet another TV appearance: "Don't be surprised when you're channel surfing if you see Kevin Sharp on the Discovery Health channel. The country singer has been called on to talk about his life, which was affected by the diagnoses of 'cancer'. In an interview, Kevin talks about his long-haired teenaged years, and his decision to shave himself 'bald' rather than bother with patchy re-growth from the therapy."
This may turn out to be a repeat of a bit that appeared quite a while back on a Discovery show about baldness, but hopefully it's something new. KevinFriends will keep you updated!
- You want MORE news, you say? Read on!
Kevin is said to be performing for a special fundraising event in Doddridge County, WV on March 24. All proceeds raised benefit a youth center, in the hopes of improving education, healthcare and daycare of the community's children.
The Doddridge County Family Resource Network is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, and tax-deductible donations will be welcomed at the DCFRN, 93 Marie Street, Suite 1, West Union, WV 26456. (If anyone can direct me to a website for this organization, I'd love to post it here.)
Well, I see you all scribbling on your calendars, LOL, so that's all for now. Check back in a few days for a couple new pics of Kevin with a few of his friends!
January 13, 2000:
- Say cheese! Thanks to Jamee, who attended Kevin's January 11th show in Naples, Florida with her mom and best friend Sheron. She snapped this pic of Jim Weaver, "an original cheesehead," who filled in for Jeff on the drums. No word on permanent replacements yet, but Jim did an excellent job, and the show was great fun. (But of course!)
January 7, 2000:
Happy Turn of the Century!
- There's a mention of Kevin's New Year resolution in People Online. I suspect this link is accessible ONLY via AOL (type it into the "keyword" field), but give it a try.
